- Visit the legendary cigar factories
This process is actually a lot more interesting than you'd think and is certainly fascinating to watch. They've been making cigars this way for centuries. After you've seen how they are made, you'll get a chance to sample one of these fine works of art.
There are three parts to Canarian cigars; the bunch, the binder (or capote), which holds the bunch together and then the wrapper which is known as the capa. The way in which all three have been rolled together will determine the quality of the cigar and how it smokes.
The cigars produced on the Canary Islands are made in the exact same as they are in Cuba. Each one is made from beginning to end by one single person. In other cigar producing countries, the bunch and wrapper are very often made by different workers
Here in the Canaries, every single hand-made cigar is a completely unique and individual work of art, even though the main goal is actually to produce identical looking cigars.
The cigars are made exclusively by hand, whereas in other countries, only the binder is rolled by hand. The nucleus of the cigar is bunched together by a machine.
