- Go to the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente
La Caldera is a massive crater that was formed over the years by several powerful volcanic eruptions. It's without question one of the most spectacular and epic sites on the island. It was awarded national park status 1954.
The lush green vegetation and the bare rugged mountain peaks, often shrouded by mist, are an awesome sight. La Caldera attracts nature lovers and trekkers from all over the globe.
There are many walking trails in and around the crater and for some of them you'll need a very good head for heights! Some of the crater's walls reach up to 2,000 meters. There are no roads running through the park so make sure you are well stocked with provisions before you head off.
