Right in the centre of Santa Cruz, lies the Plaza de Espagna - the towns most famous square. In the middle there's a 16th century fountain that's surrounded by numerous historic buildings. The statue in the middle is of Manuel Diaz Hernandez, who lived from 1774 till 1863. He was a priest of San Salvador church who preached political liberalism throughout all his sermons.
