Los Llanos de Aridane is the second largest town in La Palma. It's very modern, apart from the charming Plaza de Espagna. They hold concerts and other performances here all year long. The square is covered with laurel trees that cast a pleasant shade over the café tables.

On one side of the square there's the town hall. Opposite it stands the Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de Los Remedios, which is built in Canary colonial style. It has a baroque main altar that features a 16th century Dutch statue of its patron saint.

Just about 3 kms outside the Los Llanos is the small town of El Paso. The town is famous for its handmade cigars. Its main feature is the old town quarter. Here you'll see traditional Canarian style buildings surrounding the Ermita de la Virgin de la Conception de la Bonanza (quite a mouthful!!), which is a huge chapel.
Beside the chapel, there's a modern church with Neo-Gothic furnishings.

If you head just a short distance out of El Paso, you'll come to the Parque Paraiso de las Aves. This beautiful park is home to numerous exotic birds from all over the globe. There's also a zoo here, along with some spectacular botanical gardens.
