This is the main street and it has now been turned into a pedestrian district. It still bears testimony to the town's former wealth and prestige. It was named after an Irish banana merchant who lived here. You'll see historic residences and houses on both sides of the street. The most outstanding of these is at no. 22 - the Palacio de Salazar, which dates from the early 17th century and has some very distinctive wooden balconies.
